amp heat question

amp heat question

if i were to have my amp under some towels would it overheat??? its an MTX 801d powering a MTX 9500 12"

it would be worse. mount them veritcally and in a well ventilated place or go buy some small computer fans.

it doesnt over heat now just wondering if i hide it but i think i have a good idea of how to mount it

well i guess it all depends on where you mount it for security purposes. but i would not put a towel over it.

no no no not that at all you see
the trunk of my car (95 Max) was not level at all and i could get my sub to stay still so i packed below the trunk mat with towels and now it is nice a level and i want the amp to not be out and about so i wanted to stick it under a the trunk mat and such

o i hear ya, yea the amp dissapates alot of heat [learned that from slick] and its not good to cover it up, you could mess up the cooling system. btw go to home depot and by those cardboad type of wood sheets and use that its strong enough. and if you want throw some carpet on that bich. partsexpress.com has

i was thinking of cutting a piece of wood to fit in between the backseats and the trunk and then mounting the amp up on that

the heat sinks is what i think he means

you would mount this portrait and if you have the fins in the perpendiclar way you would mount it landscape

Don't put towels over it. Even in the trunk, or backside of the rear seat, the amp can heat up alot. It is best to get it as much air as possible.
