rocker switch, toggle switch help, bigtime please
Well I have windshield washer jets, the LED ones, yea I know, ricey, but its a toy, and I want to wire them to a switch.
Well today, I ran the wires to around my shifter trim, and I clipped off the connecter that goes to the cig lighter(I never use it) and I took the pos and neg wires from the LEDs and put them to the neg and pos on the wires from the cig lighter, then I took the wires to my rocker switch(its got 2 prongs).
Now here's the interesting part-
The LEDs came on, but when I flipped the switch, everything turned off, and I heard a "pop", and there goes my fuse, and now the LEDs dont work.
So I take the LED washer jets in and hooked them up to a 9v battery and they work just fine.
So now I take my 3mm LEDs, slap on a resister and wire them to the 9v battery and switch, just like how I did the windshield washer jets. The same EXACT thing happens. The LED lights up, I flip the switch, the LED turns off, but I flip the switch again and no light. So I then take the switch off and connect the LED directly to the battery and it lights up, but its very dim, but after awhile, the LED comes back to normal.
What's going on here? I also bought a toggle switch with 3 prongs.
Here's some more info-
1) On the rocker switch, under the first prong, it has "10A, 6A" and under the second prong it says "125V, 250V"
2) The toggle switch is rated at 5A at 125VAC, 3A at 250VAC
All the help is appreciated.

It does the same thing with the prong switch, when I test it out on the battery
oh and with the 3 prong switch, I only used the middle prong and only one of the remaining 2 prongs, because one of them doesnt work when I test this out on a 9v battery...

each prong is set to wire to something. Usually the middle is for constant power, 1 end is for whatever you're trying to turn on, and the other is for a ground.
If you still have the old cigarette lighter adaptor, break that open and see if there was a resistor in there.
As for that, I can't really help anymore unless I was there to look at it. Try grounding that 3rd prong and testing the system.

first the pop was the cig fuse you need a larger fuse in the fuse box use the 2 prong NO resistor that is whats making the lights dim if you use the 3 prong make sure the amp rating is equal or greater than the one your using. any ?
