my system went nuts!

my system started making all kinds of crazy sounds the other day. my battery was low on water and my dad added some to it. well ever since then i have crazy whirring and popping sounds in my speakers. Its too cold too look at anything outside, so i just pulled the rca's out of my amp. i am just wondering why adding water to the battery would cause this. thats the only thing that has been changed. radio worked perfectly up until that point. it almost sounds like i have a bad ground or something, but i dont see why it would do that all of the sudden. hopefully it warms up and i can check things outs.

I know that if for osme reason the ground on your head unit went bad or came loose, you will hear the sound you are describing. It will not go away until you turn off your head unit, and is always at a constant volume. Is this correct?

i have a feeling its a bad ground. dunno if its the head unit. i turned the power to the headunit off, but the noise was still there. i pulled the rcas and it stopped. my amps stay on even if the headunit is off though.

hmmm...

well if you remove the RCA's and it stops, the noise is coming from the head unit.

I'll put some thought in to it.

I was going to hook it back up to see if by some chance it had corrected itself, but as soon as i touched the end of the rca cable to the plug in the amp the noise came back. the headunit was powered off at the time. also with the rca's unplugged from the amp i hear a pop or crackle sound once in a while from my front speakers.
