lol i couldn't afford the amp for the xxx!!!! lol, not sure i'd want that much bass, about 1500 watts is plenty!, so the sx should work well, but the question is, how much do they cost?? the only place i found that has a price was some european site, and it was in euros

i got a 2005 white maxi SL and 2 days ago got my 15 inch RE XXX subs installed with hifonics brutus 1800watts rms at 1 ohms with 2.4 vodoo farad caps and stinger 1200 amp dry cell battery with all 2 gauge wires..im waiting on aftermarket alternator and the big 3 setup for power in engines...this thing bumps crazy!!!my boy has a 12 inch JL AUDIO W7 with JL AUDIO 1000/1 amp.which is a 2000 bucks setup but..my 15 inch kicks a$$ with less money..w7 was the best sub i ever heard before i installed mine..15 XXX for 435 shipped from RE directly.

so you can order straight from RE? i didn't see the number on the site....i was thinkin about the 15' SX sub, a 1500 watt hifonics amp, capacitor, hopefully it'll work out good, and make my own custom ported box

You can order from RE directly, but tru going over to www.caraudioforum.com and asking. They also have sales reps there and they will usually cut you a deal on the prices as well.
The SX is most probably in the low $300ish range, but like I said just save up & get what you want, never less.
As far as caps go, save your $. If you want a cap that actually does something check out http://www.batcap.net/Indexnew5.htm other then that they are all worthless IMO. Perhaps you can use the $ on something better
As far as your box goes, use atleast 1" for the from peice that holds the sub if not two 3/4" I tried inverting my sub, sounded great...box however didnt like it much.
jonniewaka: You dont need too much of a HO alternator. Hell 1800w is a bit overboard if you ask me, but those things are a wattage sponge. Once again, 1500 is plenty for any "insane" setup. You wouldnt even be able to tell the diff between a 1500 & 1800 inside the car.

i don't think there is a RE dealer within 50 miles, all we have here are eclipse, fosgate or kenwood. So i'd order elsewhere i guess, so if i get the SX sub, should i get a hifonics amp 1500 watts, or the kenwood excelon, 1200 watts
my kenwood cd player is the x979 excelon and it supposedly can control the kenwood excelon amp through the cd player, but which is better, hifonics or kenwood amps?
and should i go witht he SE or SX, i've had about 400 watts in my car before, powering to fosgate punch stage 1's, that was a lotta base but it was clean because i had to turn the amp all the way up, so what i want is about 1200 or 1500 watt amp and turn the gain down so it doesn't push it, that would still give plenty of thump

Just watch those gains & you'll be fine.
Btw- is your setup sealed or ported?

Keep in mind gains are Not volume *****, they should be set accordingly with your HUs voltage outs.

^^^ lol way to scam your friends. who in their right mind would pay $50 for a blown sub that you can get at a dealer for 90 new anyway. id still get the se... port it to 2.5 cubes at 28 and be amazed.

so besides visionary audio and contacting RE itself, or ebay, is there any other places to get their subs?? (the dealer is really high for the XXX, i'm thinking either SE or SX)
