Audiobahn components

I recently bought a pair of 4" Audiobahn component speakers putting out 120 Watts each RMS. However, they sound incredibly shrill, as they pierce my ears basically. Any suggestions on what I should replace them with?

turn down the trebble?

i'd get some speaker mounts from james92se so you can install 6.5s" in the front doors as opposed to those 4" speakers you have in there now.

the trebble is already all the way down, and I'm not using the equalizer, so I've done all I can on my part.

Maybe adding some sound deadening to the doors would help...it would be a good idea to do it whether you keep the speakers or not.

i had moved the speakers up to the top of the door panels, meaning that the back of the drivers were almost touching the metal frame of the car, with very little clearance. Maybe that's it

My suggestion is either sell or throw out those speakers and get yourself a nice set of comps...Like from CDT, Planet Audio, Phoenix Gold...

Its just how the speakers are, nothing with tuning. Audiobahn is big on the Bling factor, very low on product itself factor.

Reminds me of my buddy's car. He had some component speakers, can't remember the brand, and no matter what we did the tweeters were just ear pearcing (sounded very bad). I finally just covered the one on my side and told him to turn it down. His car was eventually stolen from work, and now they are piercing someone elses ears.

If you can locate a set of Cerwin Vega IT 4.0 Components, you won't need to get a mounting ring, and you will be much happier with their sound than that of the Audioblings.
