audio wizards step in

Curious, what do you all think of this product?
Kenwood Excelon KFC-Xr71p

I want to eventuallyl upgrade my speakers (non-bose) to components that will improve on the crappy vocals, mids, highs on my stock 95 GXE speakers. If you like this or not, please tell me why and what are better options.

I have a pioneer headunit right now that I love. It's the cheapest one they sell that still plays mp3's. I forget the exact model number.

I searched for this Kenwood model and couldn't find anything on the org which is why I had to post. Thanks.

I'm by no means an audio wizard, but another option to look into would be getting some CDT comps from Don (djdiliodon or something). Email him at islandsound1@yahoo.com. I got an awesome price from him. Fast email replies too.

You can get a set of EF-61cv's (msrp of around $350) for $150 shipped. I got an even better deal from his "drunk new year's eve" sale for some reason, so that was cool. I got the Ef-61CFi's, but haven't installed them yet.

thanks guys, keep it coming. Please describe why you like your speakers. ( I am looking for the set with the tightest sound, as crisp as possible without sounding tinny, very good mid's and highs and good vocals)

thanks!

ok, so crutchfield says to avoid paper based speakers for durability reasons. The CDT's are carbon lined but paper between.

What are your opinions on durability of your favorite speakers? Thanks for you inputs all!

Keep them coming!

well in the end, it's best to go in and give each speaker a listen and then decide which one sounds good to you.

my shivas have paper cones, my cdts have paper cones, it doesnt matter unless in sunlight. same with foam surrounds vs rubber surrounds. as long as its not exposed to sunlight its fine. for the price, cdts are hard to beat. i have mine cl61s getting about 50 a side and it gets loud enough to where i have to turn it down. and for me thats all the power i need.
