speakers

I'm trying to replace my front (door) speakers. Not using the the factory black speaker boxes that they sit in, doing a custom job myself. However, many audio places say that I can put in 4x6 plate speakers in the opening. My question is can I use 6x9's or how about 5 1/4 ---to--6 in. speakers? Will the window glass rub/hit against them, what did you do?

you can fit some 6.5" speakers in the front doors with some custom mounts. i recommend getting a set from james92se. i bought some mounts from him not too long ago, and it'll bolt right up replacing the old 4x6 brackets.

and welcome to the org

He shouldn't need any mounts unless Nissan made a change in the door mounts after 1990. I had a 90 Maxima and the stock speakers were 5 1/4 but my buddy put 6's in there with no problem. I don't understand why you would need mounts if you went up in size.
