I have an idea and I want everyones opinion

I drive a 6th gen and my car came with 2 factory bose 8" subs. They are located under the back deck. I recently removed them and they have 8 inch mounting brackets still attached under the rear deck. I dunno if this is possible but I was curious about putting some 8" jl audiow7 in the same spot. I dunno if this would be possible or not. I figured a shop might be able to make a box for the 2 subs and mount them where the stocks were. Just want your input on anything.

anything is feasible (check out mtv's pimp my ride ) but those are some heavy 8" subs. im sure some reinforcement would be needed. also i think one 8" dub 7 in the rear dekc would be plenty for me. you also need to verify that its a free air capable.

yeah I had that idea once for the same exact speaker...from what I remember the w7 needs a box kicker makes a free air 8 inch....you would probly get alot of rattling and then your rear deck would have to be torn up theyd make a box for the woofer like normal then make it fit in the rear deck from the trunk from what the person at the stereo shop told me...to me it didnt seem a good worth it idea... probly get the same sound just putting it in the trunk those w7 are no joke

I wouldn't use W7s...way overkill and too pricey for what you're doing...and I'm not even sure if they are infinite baffle-capable. If you want two 8-inchers, do some research and get some decent ones that allow free-air installations. You should be able to attatch them to the rear shelf with some modifications. You'll have to seal the trunk off from the rest of the car, which may be accomplished by applying damping material to the rear deck - which you will probably want to do anyway just to help control the rattling I'm sure you'll get.
