bose system in a 96 max

OK, I my Max used and it came with a sony xplode head unit. The kind that flips open. Well, the previous owner had some kind of setup going thru an amp and a sub...and it worked. He kept the amp and sub before getting it to a dealer. So now I have working speakers and head unit that won't work together (very well) I found a converter or sorts on e-bay that boats its ability to use any aftermarket head unit with any nissan maxima 1995-2005 bose system. This is it

What I wanna know...is how accurate this is. it would be great if it does really work. Thanks for the help

Yes, that interface will work for adding an aftermarket head unit to a Bose amp/speakers...if you plan on upgrading your setup later than save your money and bypass Bose altogether.

How much sound quality will I lose??

Why would I wanna upgrade my speakers later? Bose researches the car before installing the speakers

wow...I went to this one forum and they all said the bose speakers are just rouble and sound bad. They sent me to some 400 dollar speakers...which is totally rediculous. What do you guys think of the xplode speakers?? What would be in about the same price range and better?

Yes, Bose is complete cr@p. So is Sony as far as car audio IMO.

Let us know how much you are looking to spend overall and we can advise you better

well thats the thing, I can get the xplodes and get them instlaled for under 150 from this guy who can get em wholesale for me. It would be cheaper if I trade in my bose speakers.

I have two tweeters that sit atop the dash that aren't bose that I won't trade in. So what kind of speaker should I ask him to get instead of xplodes? I dont really wanna go over 150

cheaper infinity speakers

infinity speakers

infinity are pretty decent for what you are looking for. I am sure people can come up with other brands that are cheap and sound decent but I only have experiance with infinity, Crystal mobilesound, and Rockford Fosgate(older stuff though) when speakers are concerned.

but like everyone else said xplod and bose suck please stay away from them at all costs.

Infinity sounds pretty good, if you like more tweeter go with something like Alpine type-s. If he cant get other brands, check out sites like discountsjungle.com, good prices.

What are you guys talkin about...Bose speakers are awesome. My stock '95 bose speakers own all my friends aftermarkets, granted they didn't buy the very best speakers, but they some brand name ones. I love my bose speakers, and as for that HU adapter on ebay, you can get the same one at best buy for $40. Thats the one i got in my car.

...If you mean by own that they have no highs and crappy lows then yes they do own other people systems.

I was fine with my stock system for a little bit but I couldn't take how often the HU cd skipped. So I ripped out the bose system and just put in speakers in the front with a cheap amp pushing 50-75 watts to them and a sub in the back and I think it sounds a lot better/cleaner. Did the same in my old max and put really crappy blaukpunts components with same amp and that even sounded better.

Bose to me is just an overpriced name.

Its never the speakers that are crappy it is the fact that most head units only give them 20 watts maybe 30 at most which just makes them sound subpar.

The Bose Speakers with an aftermarket HU will get old, and you will be wanting better highs.. The Bose cannot produce crisp clean highs like i want, I will be goin with a component set soon.
