My radio reception is garbage.

My SE's power antenna is long gone, and the antenna it has now is some cheapie AutoZone replacement that doesn't get crap for reception. What would a good replacement be? Is there somewhere that sells a good brand of replacement antenna? I checked all of the connections and stuff with the antenna and everything looks good...I just think the antenna is a cheap POS.

What would a good brand of replacement be or where to get a good one? Maybe steal another power one off of a junkyard Max?

I think its lame that my '86 Pulsar's antenna mast broke off eons ago, but still gets better reception than a max with a 31"-er sticking off the back of it.

Do you have a stock radio or aftermarket. I had to get a antenna adapter when I got a new HU because radio sounded like crap.

If any company would make an aftermarket one it would be Metra, stop by your local CC or BB, they should have a catalog or be able to call Metras tech support and get a part number for you. If they dont make one, a junkyard is your best bet.

My car has some aftermarket HU...either a Pioneer or Panasonic (I can never remember) It sounds just fine and dandy when its actually getting reception.

Crutchfield say that this one will work on my car...look good? I'm not sure if all of my power antenna connections are still present...when I checked all of my connectons, I only saw the plug that the antenna plugs into.

EDIT: PartsAmerica tells me I need the Metra 44PW530 and Metra says the 44CR88 will work but it doesnt look right...blah what a pain in the ***.

I really don't want a power antenna. One that I can just telescope down so I don't break it off in carwashes would be nice.

To me that looks like it just wouldn't fit right on the Maxima. Maybe I'm missing something. Thats the 44CR88. They say it fits all Maximas from '82 to '97.

Okay, I guess I'm going to try to find a Metra 44-UL15 locking non-power retractable antenna.

Does anyone know what stores sell them?

When I got it, it had a stubby little rubber antenna thing. Reception was *crap*

Then, I bought a 31" metal mast. Improved a lot, but still not great.

Today: Bought Metra telescoper. No real difference.
