i know that in 5th gens if u kill the car your headlights only go off when you open the door, and wont go back on unless u put a key in....maybe tap the acc of the radio to the headlight relay

i could be completely wrong, though.

Yes, djfrestyl is correct. You need to tap the relay into the headlight wire from the steering column. You also will need a DMM to test the wire and whether it is positive trigger or negative trigger. Positive trigger rests at ground when the cars off and lights turn on when the wire sees 12 volts, negative trigger rests at 12v when the cars off and lights turn on when the wire sees ground.

Now...as for the relays. If the wire is negative trigger, hook up 85 to the headlight wire, 86 and 87 to constant power, 87a you can leave open, and 30 will be your output to the radio.

If the wire is positive trigger, hook up 86 to the headlight wire, 85 to ground, 87 to constant power, 87a leave open, and 30 will again be your output to the radio.

In either case you should put a 10A fuse in line to be safe

Good luck
Kevin
