Underpowered JLVr6.5 Components Suck!!!! HELP!!!

Sup fellas, long time...
Well last time I posted anything, I think I was complainig about my JL VR 6.5 Components not putting out any serious sound....
Same and song and dance, guys! Well I really have begun to think it's the sh!tty amp that was used. It's a DB Drive 2x80 @ 4 ohms! I really think thats too much restriction to get any decent bass. Plus those speakers can be amped up 100 watts. Another thing is, it sounds like my rears (Sony Xplodes Coaxial 6.5s) are getting all the bass! WTF....it gets a lil distorted when I turn it up. What gives? I dunno I'm quite disgusted with it all.
Could y'all possibly suggest a better 2-way amp with less resistance and at a decent price. What can I do about the rear's bass hitting harder that the component woofer? AM I missing something? I need some serious help guys, thanks!

JLs arent well known for their midbass at all. So dont expect a world of difference there. Try some dampning prior to dropping alot of money on an amp, although the amp that you have could def use some upgrading.

What is your budget for a new amp?

What is running your rear speakers? What are they crossed over at? That is most likely your issue.

Let me clear my throat...

@SleepyMaxxx68...

If you're looking for a different amp, I'd suggest you just go with a 5-channel amp. HiFonics are great amps, and the z6400 might be just what you're looking for. It's 85Wx4 RMS + 200Wx1 @ 4-Ohms. I'm considering this amp myself right now. I saw it on eBay for about $190, plus shipping. If you go with a 4-channel amp, you can wire your rear speakers to it and adjust the gain in the rear, so they're not overpowering your components up front. My last system was wired that way, and it worked out pretty well. I didn't have components, though. I had a pair of Audiobahn 6.5" 3-ways and a pair of 4-way Kenwood 6x9's in the rear deck that did the job.

Your head unit probably doesn't allow you to adjust the speaker level the way you want to, so you'd do best to get a good amp with crossovers like the one I mentioned that will give you more control over the situation. The crossovers on the amp will help you to even out the level of mid-bass that your speakers are getting, so if you want more up-front, you can adjust it that way, as well as tuning the rear mid-bass down. Trying to push heavy bass up front and in your rear deck will likely result in the distortion you're complaining about, which is simply cause for you to get a sub that will rattle your teeth for you

You didn't mention that you had a sub right now, but a 5-channel amp will give you the option of adding one later on if you want without a bunch of hassle if it's in your future plans. That way, you can adjust your components and rear coaxials to reproduce only the mids & highs to avoid the distortion, your sub can take care of all the lows, and hopefully give you more of the sound you want you'll only have one amp to deal with.

It does sound like your amp might be holding your system back a bit. I'm a big supporter of bi-amplification (two separate amps, at least) for a good-sounding, solid-performing system, but I did have a 6-channel HiFonics amp at one time that I absolutely LOVED until my car was broken into and it got stolen. Right now, I have a couple of Profile California amps that have provided good sounds for me, even though most serious audio-geeks frown on them. I got both amps for under $200, and they sounded pretty good to me, without any problems. See my website for the details if you like. If you do a bit of studying you'd be surprised at what kind of sound you might get out of a pair of amps that most people consider average quality amps. Good luck! I look forward to hearing how it all turns out for you, bro!

I personally love the midbass produced from my JL XR650 component set up front and the VR650 coaxials in the rear. I am running a 4 Channel Eclipse EA-3422 Amp and they sound incredible. A couple of .org members have heard my setup and have commented on the clarity and full-range sound of my setup.
