So you pretty much have the stock stereo that comes in every 5th Gen Maxima if I understand you correctly. Best advice judging by your post; take your car to a custom car audio shop.
Also, there is an Audio specific section on this forum. Please browse around a bit and read the Stickies.

Alikahn, you might want to refer to my post which reads Bose stereo or stock. I have the same stock system as you, and a guy in there has answered alot of my questions for me.
It really depends on if you are planning on using the factory head unit. It is a good idea to replace it as I've been told. I'm going to just because it makes hooking up amps and such much easier because of the inputs on aftermarket receivers. If you aren't replacing the head unit, it will be more difficult in my opinion. You will have to buy a line output converter. what does it do you ask? well, you hook it up to your speaker leads coming from your unit and it converts the speaker wire to rca jacks so that you can then lead them to the amp. I looked and they are $30 bucks each at crutchfield. So if you have a 4 channel amplifier, you will have to buy two. Not sure how familiar you are with installing amps and other electronics, best thing to do is find the stickies on how to install at the top of the forums, and look for stereos and amps. If you aren't too comfortable with it. Let a friend (who knows what the hell they are doing) hook it up for you. I've heard of a few who had their friends do it, and ended up having their amps fried. You can do some serious damage if you don't know what you are doing. Let me know if you have any more questions and good luck. I am still in the planning stages of my system, I just bought my car thursday, and its the first thing I'm doing. This factory system is the worst I think I've heard. lol lata
