A stock alternator cannot produce enough to feed 2200 watts. The age has nothing to do with it.

it all depends on efficiency of the amp. Somewhere around that area at peak output from the alt with a 50% efficiency rated amp

Ohio Generator would be my first choice, Stinger secondly. I was gonna run a GD on either of these, but it didnt seem the interest was there....

Capasitor help

Ok here is the deal im going to buy the kenwood Kac-7201 amp i had it before and it never gave me a problem i will run it bridged to give me 460 RMS
i will be using it on the Kicker Solo-Baric VS10L5-4. It will be wired up using 8 awg wire. I just got a new altinator and batt about a year ago. My question is am i going to need a cap i just have one amp running one sub. I used to think no matter what amp you have you will always need a cap but now im reading diffrent things. Now i drive a 91 mercury tracer Im not trying to blow the window and doors off of my car i just want a really nice base that i will be happy with maybe even being heard up the block with out having to worry that im going to need a new altinator or Batt every other week. Please be honest thanks :
here are the sites for the amp and the sub

i'd just save the money. you don't need a cap with only 460 watts.

you don't have to send the sub with gobs of power to make it sounds good. what size box are you using?
