do i need a capacitor...look inside

The amp works for say a day of usage and then on day 2 i'll notice that some of the interior lights dim everytime the bass hits. Then usually later that day or on the 3rd day the amp goes into protect mode. My friend fixed it once, he said a fuse came loose under the hood. Is what im thinking right: The amp is drawing too much power from the alternator which ends up tripping the fuse which turns the amp into protect mode? And im thinking a cap would fix this...I need your thoughts.

the fuse will blow if too much current goes through it. how much power are you putting out?

only 800 watts. It powers my kicker L5 which I know has 2 dual voice coils if that means anything. the amp is 800 x 1 Watts RMS @ 4 Ohms Mono (Bridged).

check the amp manuel and see how much amps the main fuse has to be, or check the fuses on the side of the amp and add them up. what ever that number is the fuse under the hood must be the same size. btw what size wire are you using for power? your runing 800 so you might need alteast 4awg

I have a 1000 watt fosgate and a 1200 watt fozgate. I only notice the slightest dimming of the headlights when the bass hits.

I'm not using any Cap and I have the stock alternator & battery.
