Bazooka Tube?

has anyone put this on a stock set up for a little extra bass? I haven't heard one of these in action before. Would this be a possible alternative to replacing my entire system for some increased low end sound.

I know that you can hook up a sub through a high level input on an amp, but the sound quality just isn't there. i read the install manual during my last visit at A&B sound and it states that these are designed for high level input rather than low level.

if anyone has any previous experience (good or bad) please post something.

Thanks,
MIXMAX

I am not looking for "blow out my window" bass, just something that gives a bit of a kick without spending large money. i already have a comp. stereo set up, just need a new HU and some rear speakers to finish it off. debating on getting rid of it and tuning down to this bazooka tube and keeping my trunk space.

If you were having problems with rattles, that is a minor problem to fix. if the bass sounds deflated outside the car, then that is more of an issue. i do like the sound inside to be good, but i don't want to pull up to a light in the summer next to some fine ladies and have my stereo sounding like a woopie cushion. placement of these tubes is critical when it comes to sound quality, as for any sub enclosure. i guess i will look for more feedback before i jump into this option.

thanks for the input 2 Da Max.

basically looking to increase bass with little to no modification to stock set-up. budget is very flexible. looking to keep trunk storage as i pack things around fequently and don't like to pack things on the the leather interior. I currently have 2 15's in a ported box, 100 watt RMS Pheonix Gold amp (sounds small, but believe me it packs alot of continuos power), 2 X Alpine V12 300 watt 2,3,4 channel amp, Cerwin Vega mids with detached tweets. the head unit and other speakers went with my old car. debating on getting back into a large set-up with ear blowing bass or just stepping back into a nice balanced sounding set-up. I currently have my MP3 player tapped into my Stock Bose HU for audio upgrade and the stock unit has a cd player and cassette (which never gets used)(ever). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
MIXMAX

I'm confused, you have 2 15's, but are looking for a bazooka tubr for more bass?

so the 15s are in the car at the moment i assume? if you're looking to 'step' down so-to-speak, try getting one good 12 in a ported box. it'll save some trunk space, and with the right sub/box combo, it'll sound good AND loud. subs from adire audio, resonant engineering, ascendant audio are all good, and can can really pump out the basss. i am running a 12" adire audio brahma in a big ported box, and it gets plenty loud.

Right now i have nothing in the car except stock equipment. i am debating on which route to go...kickin stereo or small and simple. i passed by the bazooka tube the other day and read some quick specs. it seemed like a possible solution to what i want. from what i can remember, it was an 8" sub with a built in 50 watt amp. has both low and high level inputs, but is designed to handle high level inputs. i just don't know how it sounds and was looking for some feed back on whether or not it was worth purchasing. if it souds like garbage, then i would have to go with a high level input into one of my amps and set up an amp and sub. i wasn't planning on putting the 15's back into the car, but wasn't planning on getting rid of them just yet incase i want to put some punch in for cruisin or for a group event. i have thought of the 12" in a ported or sealed enclosure, but still it is a big box in the end. the nice thing about the bazooka is that it is round and removable with a couple of straps that hold it into place. a quick disconnect plug and i can have it out in a few minutes. if i have a sub and amp, the amp is mounted somewhere in the trunk and the sub would have to be secured in to a corner. it poses a bit of a problem for all the stuff i might transport. the bazooka is a fiberglass structure and the box would be wood. in the winter monthes, i do a lot of snowboarding and in the summer i am playing baseball. so moisture can sometimes be an issue.

fiberglass enclosure in the spare tire well would suit you well...no moisture problems and no cargo room taken up.

i have thought of that as well, but requires a lot of work and mess. also i would kinda be screwed if i got a flat too. but on the same hand, there would be less things to rattle around and i could make the trunk floor level.... hhhhmmmmm
