will this setup work
will this setup work
i have a hifonics 4 channel amp. i am going to set it up 55x4 and use 2 channels for my front speakers and use the remaining 2 for my subs. i will get 110 watts for my sub and im getting a 12 inch rockford fosgate stage 1 with 150 rms. will that work fine? or is my thinking/understanding wrong.
also, does it REALLY matter what amp install kit i get. i need a 4 gauge and i got a cheap audiopipe amp install kit for 25 bucks.

If that's your only amp, then you'll be fine with the audiopipe kit. their 4awg is about the size of most brands' 6awg.
the biggest difference in those kits is the size of the wire. Monster cable 4 awg is the biggest stuff I've seen. I can BARELY cram it in a 4 awg connector. ATS (Amp King), Streetwires, Scosche, and the other major brands all have good wire as well.
As for your setup, what's the model # on the amp and the impedance of the sub?
how's the bridged output on that Hifonics at 2,4,8 ohms- or whatever it is on the sub.
at 110W, the sub won't be incredibly loud, but it'll work... I have a feeling your HiFonics will be putting out more power than that in bridged mode.

my amp is hifonics zx4400 amp. and the sub has a 4 ohm impedance.
4 x 55 Watts @ 4 ohm
4 x 110 Watts @ 2 ohm
2 x 220 Watts @ 4 ohm Bridged
yea its 220 watts bridged. so i can get a 250 rms sub right.
sorry to ask a stupid question, but can i put two 150 watts subs to get the 300 watts, which is less than 250 rms. or does each sub have to be 250 each.

250rms is just the limit. You don't have to give it that exact amount. Just get one sub that can handle 250 watts rms and comes with a single 4 ohm voice coil or a dual 2 ohm voice coil.
That wire kit should be big enough for that amp. As for subs, get an adire shiva for $125 shipped, should suit you fine.

like i said i was going to do a 2 x 55 and a 2 x 220 bridged for my sub. what if i put in 200 watt subs would the speakers get damaged? a guy by my house is selling these from his daughters car..they are dual rockford fosgate RFZ2412 in a qlogic box $40 bucks., i no the subs are old, but they sound pretty good for my use.

these are the specs of the woofer im looking at. i want a small box with tight accurate base. will this work on my hiphoncs amp listed above gettign 2 x 220 Watts @ 4 ohm Bridged
AUDIOBAHN AW1051SE 10" 300W
» dual 4-ohm voice coils
» frequency response 28-1,000 Hz
» power range 50-300 watts RMS (150 watts per coil)
» peak power handling 600 watts
it can be wired for 2-ohm (coils wired in parallel), 8-ohm (coils wired in series), or 4-ohm impedance (each coil wired independently).

for that much money look for a kenwood bass cannon.. I had an 8" one and mind you it was nothing earth shattering but it was a good sounding unit,Had the amp on it,small ported enclosure... i see them sell for $100 canadian and new they soold for $300 canadian..
Also it sounded way ebtter then bazooka's brand or any of the other bass cannons i had heard..

someone at school is selling a Kicker S12L7 in a slanted enclosure. he says he used it for a year and still sounds good. $100...is that a good deal and its says 100 - 750 RMS..im only gonan give it 220. it wont work at optimal, but will it still work good.
ne word on audiobahn AW1051SE. its a dual voice sub with 300 rms. having these in a 10 inch sealed box fed by a 220 watts should be ok right. i never heard ne audiobahn subs, u guys got ne feedback on it.

first let me thank you guys for helping me along my new system. cruthfield has the 10 inch Infinity Kappa Perfect10 VQ with 75-400W RMS power range • 25-400 Hz frequency response. these are a bit cheaper than ebay and feels good knowing your product has warranty. im worried if i get this sub,my 220 watts will not be enough for this. but then again leaves me with future room to upgrade. will i still get good bass even though im giving it 1/2 the wattage. im going to be putting it into a sealed box.
You said that a guy at your school was selling a 12L7 for $100 used? You could get it and use it but I know for a fact that the amp you are trying to use won't be enough to push that kind of sub. That's a good deal on that L7.
i brought the 10 inch Infinity Kappa Perfect10 VQ with 75-400W RMS from cruthfield today for 120. hopefully my 220 watts bridged will push this sub ...if not...they have a return policy and hopefully they will take it back. i wanted 400 cuz i might expand in the future to a mono sub. never knew car audio was this hard. well its hard when your trying to get maximum performance for your dollar.
thanks for the offer don.
im worried about underpowering my sub. is 220 watts far to less to give a 400 rms sub. i dont want to damage it due to clipping. is there a simply setup i can set on teh gain, etc that i will not damage my sub.

id take a cm3 over that sub along with professional help with the gain setting.
you set your gain based on your h/u's voltage. however, each h/u has different max volts it put out (and some like eclipse do it cleaner than others which also matters), so for what yuo are working with, id either do the 3/4 volume method or if you have an osciliscope (sp?) handy look for distortion. but there is nothing wrong with running the sub at less than rms, rms is simply a guideline. if you still are feeling so gulity about not giving it enough power increase the box size to get that low end extension, at a slight loss in "punchiness".

i see that the cm3 is 500 rms. wouldnt that put my sub/amp rms ratio even greater. ill see how the infiniti sounds cuz i have 30 days to return it back to cruthfield. i like infinity products. u think some local shop can set my sub for me. if so how much could they charge. as you can see i am in fear of blowing the sub.

im thinking of getting an amp just to push my 400 rms infinity sub. i got a hifonics 4400 and i dont want to run a second power cable. i just want to use a fused distribution block to give power to both. im thinking since i used a 4 gauge wire already to power my 4 gague connectors on the hifonics that a fused distribution block will not work for me. is this correct?
i was thinking of using a Hifonics Zeus ZX4000 a 2 chan bridged will give m 400 rms for my sub. i never heard of hifonics (but than again i just started reading car audio a few weeks ago) and I am fully pleased with my zeus 4400. hope i can connect this without running a second power wire.
the fuse on the zx4400 is 50 amps and the zx4000 is 40 amps. i think a 4 gague wire can run 100 amps of current so i think i will be ok. are there any places that will sell me 4 gague power cable by the foot?
