Better soundstage...

Hey guys,

I just ordered my Rainbow components for the front of 5th gen. I'm looking for the best soundstage without going too crazy. Would it be better to install the tweeters in the stock A-Pillar location or to place them on the plastic cover to the mirror screws. (Like just further to the back of the car than the a-pillar. Like it's done on mustangs and such.) I don't want to go spending any money on those custom Q-forms or whatever they're called, but these other options are both feasible. Thanks.

id try out each location and see what you like best. obviously for the highs to really hit you in the face id say on the doors somewhere. i have mine in the apillar and im content.

Closer to you isnt necessarily better, if ones much closer to you, that tweeter is going to be extremely dominant and thats the only one youll hear. The kick panels are going to give you a better stage because the speakers are closer to equidistant to you. All depends how all out you want to go imo.

On the one hand you have Rainbow components, and on the other hand you say in your post you dont want to go too crazy. Seems a little contradictory but thats just me...if I had Rainbows Id make damn sure I got all out of em I could, if it meant buying the kicks or whatever.

Thats my .02

Funny, I hadn't thought about it that way. I'm getting a great deal on the Rainbows, if that helps explain it. And I do see your point. I just don't want to spend the $100ish (??) on each of those kick panel things. I also don't trust myself or my passengers to keep our feet clear of the speakers if they're down on the floor. Guess I'll just throw 'em in the stock locations for now and see if I like how it sounds. I just don't like how the tweeters don't seem to be angled towards the passengers enough in the stock locations.

they reflect off the dash and windshield in the apillar nicely IMO. in the stock locations you get a good soundstage and i dont feel any speaker is dominant. however, id put them on the doors if all you want is highs in your face.

yeah, if you dont want to go all out on the install, the stock location should do okay, and as long as theyre tuned properly your sq will be fine.
