6x9's in rear deck of 03 SE?

Not looking to go the sub route, but rather add some nice 6x9's to the rear deck. Has anyone done this? BTW-The car didn't come with the BOSE system or sub.
I currently have a Kenwood Excelon HU and Boston Acoustics component system up front.
Your thoughts please.

IMHO you're better off running some coaxes in the rear OEM slots and going the subwoofer route. If you start putting heavy hitters such as the 6x9s in the rear, you run the risk of creating a soundstage that sounds as though it is coming more from the rear than the front. My brother is running 9x9s in the rear and a 2-way setup in the front...sounds like all the sound is coming from the back of the car. Hate to break it to ya, but you're better off with a sub. Alof of .org members are running the INFINITY BASSLINK, which is a powered sub unit. Easy to install and conserves alot of space. Nice price, too. Another thing that you will have to put into consideration is that if you wish to go the 6x9 route is that you will have some modification to do to the rear deck as to allow them to fit...as you will see, there are no openings for speakers in the rear deck. Additionally, the sound quality of a 6x9 is nothing to be praised as music was intended to be reproduced through a round cone - not a football.

Thanks...I'll probably go the sub route then. I already have a sub (Infinity Perfect 10) and JBL amp from my old car, so I'll just throw that in the car.
