Engine/Alternator Noise??? Help Plz

When I start my car, there's a high pitch whine (not that loud) and I just noticed today that whenever I press on my gas pedal, whine gets louder.

Weird thing is, sometimes, I don't hear that whine at all. That's after I drive my car for about 20-30 min. Maybe it's still there but alot quieter. Maybe because my amp is nice and warm?

My question is, what's the main source of this problem? I'm running a pair of really old patch cables opposite side of my power and led. Would a good set of cables help eliminate this problem? I've used noise filter which worked great but cut down on bass alot so I removed it.

Shielded RCAs would probably help some if yours arent. Or most likely ground issues. You powering the speakers with the radio? You could try grounding the radio at the same point as the amp, to eliminate any ground loop possible.

That means I would have to run my stereo ground wire all the way back to my trunk.

Where's the best ground location in the trunk?

I have the same problem. Sometimes it is worse than others. I seriously doubt it is your RCA's. I changed mine out and regrounded both amps and it made no difference. You may try to reground your head unit to bare metal like on the firewall or behind the kickpanel on the driver side. That is the next thing I am going to try. I would not run a ground all the way back to your trunk until you try to reground up front. Let me know if it helps. I really don't want to take the h/u out again unless I get confirmation from somebody else that regrounding it outside the factory harness actually fixes the whine.

I could reground my hu. I don't know if that would help because I didn't have any noise problem until I hooked up my amp.

9 times out of 10, it is the ground wire that is causing the whine. I would keep moving ground around. My amp ground in the trunk is close to the left blinker, don't know how to really explain it, just make sure you don't have any paint on it, scrape if necessary, the head unit ground I have directly to metal in the dash, I don't think it would be your head unit ground though, you may want to check though.

That's pretty long ground wire for me though since I mounted the amp on the back seat. Do you happen to have a picture of that exact location?

My bose wiring harness connects my ground from hu to oem ground. Is that bad?

Mine h/u didn't give any whining sound until I hooked up an amp to it either.

Does your whine get more annoying when your rear defogger and your ac/heat fan are on? Mine does. I think all of those things are grounded at the same place that the h/u is. I don't know for sure where the actual ground ends up but I did notice that if the bracket that holds the h/u in place is not screwed down properly that the h/u will not turn on. This leads me to believe that this metal bracket is the ground that is used for all of these things. Moving the h/u ground to a spot by itself might fix this problem. I don't know for sure cause Im tired of pulling the h/u out and am too lazy to try it. If you do let me know if it worked .
