Pix of my setup, what you guys think?

The capacitor helps to keep your voltage levels stable when the volume is cranked! Anyways the equipment looks good, just gotta fix the wiring mess, if only for safety reasons...
Caps are useless, just a really great marketing scheme.
its a bomb

lol my boys at school think its nos, but hey 20 dollars you cant go wrong. my dealer was actually trying to get rid of them basically throw them out i was like heeeeeeeeeey that shiny thing would look nice in my car, and they gave me wires and stuff
yo the funniest thing ever, this dude comes in and wants 2 alpine typer 12s but they didnt have at the time, i think it was in november. so my dealer sold him 2 kicker cvrs for the hell of it, the thing was one of them was a dvc4 and and the other was a dvc2.
the funny part was he asked for a cap, and she said wich one, 1 farad 2 farad. etc. so he was like how much is the 5 farad cap, she goes 340. and hes like ill take it. lolll

I added an Optima Yellow Top. I was told Caps were a waste of $20. I will have the stack alternator re-strung to support a 200 amp current. As soon as the interstate in the stock location dies, It will also be replaced with a second Yellow Top. The only reason I added the extra battery is the Diamond Audio D6 1500.1 has 4 40 amp fuses. Anything else I should try. I also have been considering an engine grounding kit to upgrade the wires that make up the grounding system. Is this worth my time?
Yeah Ive heard the engine grounding kit works. Chris who is redoing your alternator and for how much? The only 200 Amp ive heard of is from Cam Am motors in tampa, and its $400ish.
Yes caps are a complete waste assuming you have a good amp with a fully regulated power supply, etc.

Not sure who it is. My installer said he has a guy locally. I need to research this. He said that these high output alternators are just stock units that are disassembled and respun with new and more copper. The aftermarket alternators are too big for our 5th gens. Not sure if this is true but I have looked, there isn't any extra room down there. Basically, You need a stock alternator and someone to rebuild it.I am going to see if studman can get 4gauge in bulk. I will just need the connectors. Do the ppl you contacted in Tampa have a web site?
No unfortunately Can Am motors doesnt have a site but I have been thinking of just stopping by to see if they have any ideas or thoughts. What exactly do you need as far as wire and connectors, because Metra will usually give us a decent discount for CC roadshop people. Let me know....hit me up on AIM, same name as on here

Now I'm not sure if I should put this up there... but hey why not.
We should start a poll to see if 2 Da Max should come up with something crazy again, just to regain his spot for "
Member of Maxima.org"Cause this new guy is starting to freak me out a little.

of having a system that makes everyone else's look like $hit? lol
dude that installation looks extra clean to me, maybe on my standards........
Damn, u gotta let me listen to ur system again next time i go.
Alright! First off, if any of you actually knew about how capacitors work, you wouldn't say that caps are useless. You probably can't tell, but they do work. A cap not only STORES electrical energy in an electostatic field, but it also opposes changes in voltage.
I feel a flame coming on for this one... Oh and memphis sktr... I spent 2 years in Industrial Maint & electronics.. I know exactly what a cap is for... and it's pointless on a subwoofer system unless you're overating your alternator... and even then you're just going to fry it sooner.
A cap is originally designed for a instant burst of power when there's a drop in power. So for that little chance to make sure your amp has constant level voltage.
Your alternator now has to recharge it, meanwhile the system is still going, and getting less voltage than it would with a constant HO alternator.
You want to know what a cap would be good for... charge it up, then take two wires and prod somebody...
