MaaAn I wish they would make a more visually appealing deck. Performance wise, I love the features and quality. Just cant get past the eye sore face. JMO. Not saying anything negative about the pruducts.

I think the new line looks really good. I really like my 8454 & I don't see myself getting rid of it any time soon, but if I did the 8455 would be a good candidate. Don, do you know if you can eject the CD with a single button push on the new line? One thing I don't like about my 8454 is you have to push a button to open the face, wait a few seconds, and then push another to eject the CD.

Tony

Oh yeah...I think Eclipse made a smart move to include satellite radio in their recievers. Definitely a good thing IMO.

Older models own. I get the best of all worlds, CD8053 with 16 volt preouts, a 5083 Changer thats here waiting to go in, and the EC9004 so I have MP3 (also here waiting on the install CD from Eclipse). And I push one button, my face flips down and ejects faster than you can say '2 da max is a newb'.

Tony..I just got in the higher models today, I havent really check as to being one press or not. Im used to doing so many radios regularly I confuse myself sometimes. lol

redmax2nv...They were supposed to produce it to be compatible with the 8022,3423,8533,etc but still never got around to it. May be months or years. With Eclipse who knows..

Kevin, you doknow the 8053 is still produced right? So yours isnt exactly old yet.

My friend just bought a CD8445 a few hours ago. As soon as he called me I knew what he was going to say . I went with him to the audio store yesterday to look at the last 8454 they had, but once he saw the new models he was hooked.

I honestly don't know anyone who needs 16 volts...even 8 volts is overkill. It's just sales hype.

No of course I dont 'need' it but why not, I got an amazing deal on the deck that I couldnt pass up.
And as far as other decks voltage, its not hype its physics. Why not buy the new 2V Alpines then

Rich...I dont have the effort to disagree with you anymore.

In all actuality, if a deck has a good s/n ratio then 2 volts would be sufficient if the install was up to par and no undue noise was introduced into the system. However, most installs aren't "up to par" and DO contain noise...and the higher output voltages allows more room for error. The flipside of this is most decks I'd consider owning, in terms of features, are above 4 volts any way, which is fine. I haven't paid too much attention to the 2V Alpines, but if they have the features one needs and they install it properly then output voltage isn't usually an issue.

power=voltage/impedance, so higher voltage = lower gains on my amp = less distortion, thats always been the logic ive read. Im no electrical engineer and Im not gonna start an argument cuz I dont like audio wars, they never get anywhere.

I put the after the Alpine comment because on almost every audio board in the past few weeks, including this one, there have been threads about how they have gone to crap etc. In the end if the buyer is happy thats all that matters, Im sure if I really wanted a deck's certain features I would live with 2v and be fine with it.

the 55ohm output impedance is more important than 8v, but the combo is a bonus

But I dont get it? Am I the only one that believes in commulative error? The HU is the SOURCE of the signal chain (CD/media not being perfect to begin with because of its origin, recording)
as the signal passes down connection to connection noise enters and its degraded.
Specs wise its got what it takes to keep that signal as clean as possible at the end of the chain- I love that! I just prefer and chose to pay for a higher standard, I've spent my years already conforming to the norm to know the difference.
The performance of the 8series Eclipse is untouched IMO, specially in the price range.

I have been back to the site a few times. They are actually growing on me a little bit. Is the satallite radio feature new to this year? Eclipse newbie. And just for the record, I love my TDX's. Old or not . I haven't heard the flatlines yet. Does anyone here run them?

Rich, what happened to the pio flip you had?

8v/16v capability is not exessive- its for a reason- to run balanced audio signal- you speak to anyone in Pro audio who has run balanced they'll tell you they'll never go back to unbalanced- its the cleanest way to run
Its not something everybody needs of course, but like you said its nice to have-specially in this hobby where people spend more money upgrading than getting actually what they really want from the getgo- just another way Eclipse caters to the audiophiles.

cant argue with that. cmon manny, would i ever go from a pioneer flip out to an alpine unit (especially with 2v) it was more of a joke regarding alpine and how everyone here dogs it and ED with their preorders.

Sirius was actually supposed to be intorduced for Elipse last, but as usual they never got around to it, so yes this si the first year now.

Nothing wrong with the TDXs, it was a I guess you could say a personal joke to him.

NoOne anywhere runs the Flatlines yet, nothing has ben released and mine have been preordered since December.

PLEASE tell me that the Sirius tuner will work with last year's headunits. I really don't want to sell my 8454.
