well today i just borrowed the massacre album from my friend and i was playing it at low volume. i mean my fawken ears is killing me right now, and so is the back of my head. Does this happen to you guys? i mean im only pushing about 300 watts to my sub and my trebble is at zero and my ears is just ringing badly. i cant imagine my new system which would be double the power, i hope my ears can handle it.
I actually get this severe pain in one of my ears if I have the bass up too loud. It wasn't always like this, but now that I'm an old man...
Most studies on hearing loss were conducted to study the effects of a loud industrial environment on your ears. If you've ever known an old jet mechanic than you understand why. These older studies determined that higher frequencies are indeed worse for you than low frequencies. That said, I don't think anyone ever thought to study the long term effects of 35Hz at 150dB, but it can't be good for you.
2 Da Max: that 50 cent cd would give me a headache too. Try knocking the treble down a couple of clicks.

Maxima Dan, if you don't like bass that much anymore, you can always give your B12's to me
anyhow, i remember reading an article (think it was either popular science or discover magazine) that low freqs can have a negative impact on the body's internal organs. i have to dig that article up...it made me think twice about blasting my sub

You sure you're not talking about the "Brown Noise" LOL
My ears ring about 20 minutes after I get out of the car. I mainly listen to Nickelback, and other hard rock. A week after I got my system (3 yrs ago) I went back into the audio shop and told them my ears were ringing, but I said the good kind of ringing. I PAID FOR THEM TO RING!

My truck's treble was deemed a "Hearing health hazard" by a local nurse...
And the pressure from the bass makes my eyes start to dry out. But I only run like that when I'm showing off, or at a sound competition.
