Infinity Ref. 6002 SI

I'm in the market for some new mids and I'm considering the Infinity 6.5's. Anyone have these, and how do they sound.

Any other suggestions for mids? I also heard some DEI's in a friends car tonight that sounded good.

How much are you looking to spend, and any reason you are looking at the shallow mount reference speakers? 6002I is the model of the regular ones, and theyll fit fine with a spacer (which youll need anyway for the fronts no matter what). Theyre not a bad entry level speaker but you could probably go with some cdt's for around the same price that would sound a little better.

I wasn't aware that they were the shallow mounts, glad you told me, and thats why I asked, lol. Where can I find CDT's? I've heard good things about them, just never seen them anywhere.

For around 200, which is what you would spend on 2 pairs of reference coaxials at a retail shop like circuit city, you can get some SL-61A's on front and CL-6X in the rear (if you even want rear speakers), and have a nice setup thats also unique

not really looking to put speakers in the back, but I'll go check them out at Circuit City when I get off nights. Also, wouldn't I just need the CL-6's in the front? I have Fosgate tweets in the pillars. Or do you think I need the full range speakers in the front doors? Thanks for the help.

You should specifiy all this in your first post then, because you were asking about the Infinity full range speaker which we have at CC, so people like me assume you have nothing besides stock bose. But yes, if you already have the tweeters you can just get the CL-6's in the front doors. What else do you already have? What will be powering the mids and tweets and what will you use as a crossover, active/passive. If the rest of your system is stock you might want to look into just getting a 4 channel and running active.

Soundstream 405 amp
Fosgate tweets
polk 5 1/4 (I think these are full range, I can't remember)
2 JL audio 10's in a sealed box.

sorry again for the lack of info. I"m going to bed, be back on tonight...goodnight...good day.......whatever......I'z sleepy.... :-)

the 405 is a 5 channel amp right? Are your polks in the front doors currently? and if so, are you just looking to go to a nicer 6 and 1/2 in the doors? Are you running aftermarket crossovers or just the amp?

Sorry for so many questions but the whole thread kinda went on a way different track then I expected from the title and first post. Now that the info above is posted, just post back your objective with whatever upgrades you choose next.

thanks

id simplify this and get the cdts mentioned. otherwise you will have to run active with 4 tweeters up front which will not be balanced.

I think I'll go with the Cl-6's. I've heard good things about CDT's, just never knew where to get them. The polks are in the front doors and I can't get them tuned to my liking. I think it is because they are full range, and like Rick said, it sounds unbalanced. Yes, the Soundstream is a 5 channel amp, and yes, I'm just running the amp crossover. Thanks for all the help guys. I'll try to be a little more clearer next time. :-)

I think I'll just get the midbass driver. prolly go with the EF-6. I wish I had just bought a component set now, but I thought I'd be happy with my Polk 5 1/4's.. Man, was I ever wrong, lol. Live and learn I guess. Anyway, I have also thought about bypassing my crossovers on my amp and buying a crossover. Would that be more beneficial, or would I not gain anything (SQ or SPL wise) from it?

At least you live and learn, thats what its all about, and you wouldnt really gain anything with an aftermarket crossover as long as your amp is tuned correctly.
