Bose CD player issues

Hi guys,
I just moved up to a 4th Gen SE 5 spd. The buttons are falling off the stock Bose CD player. Is this a known probelm with these players? What solutions short of buying a different player? I have not been on the forum much since I quit my half of WarpspeedPerformance. Has the search mode been done away with?

never heard of the buttons falling off but they should snap back on unless a piece on it got broken. Maybe some careful glueing maybe needed

Bump. Anyone else with input? One of the small plastic pieces that insert into the player, behind the button has broken off. Any idea how to get this out? I hate to have to buy a new player as this one works pretty good.

If you'd like I could sell you the front of my old Bose Unit, its from a 96 so it wont have the same look as the 97 but all the buttons work and are functional, you'd also have the choice of the stock green or orange leds. If your interested PM me.

I have a Bose HU from my 98 that should look the same as yours. The volume control is messed up, but it's cosmetically excellent. You could take the face off and swap it onto yours. $35 ships it your way. Also, the search function does work but is designated for donating members only now.

I think it is pretty common. Happened on my 97. I talked with someone at carstereohelp.com and they made it sound that way. They sell replacements for $20. Said you cant' just buy a single button from Nissan or Bose. I just bought a replacement (whole unit) on Ebay -- not just for the button, but because of cassette "cycling". That appears to be another common problem.

I saw a couple of units for sale on Ebay with missing buttons, so those of us who have had the problem are not alone!!!
