5th generation sub owners, need help

I don't have much bass as i do when i pop the trunk. Not sure the reason behind it but how can I maximize my bass?
I have an enclosure with ports facing up and speakers facing towards the rear. I've seen a lot of advice about placing the ports in other directions. Any suggestions.

Theoretically speaking your port/vent should be on the same plain as your driver. Try that and it will change dramatically.

^----What they said. You have created cancelling waves in the car. More typical when the subs are facing forward. Time for a new box.

get a subzonebox. The ports and subs face the same direction.
