Bose door speaker power comes from ____??
I searched all around for this, but couldn't find the answer. So sorry if this is a re-post.
Does anyone know where the door speakers in a 2k1 w/Bose get their power from? Is it from the HU or the amp in the trunk?
I ask because I plan on getting an Alpine HU, running RCA's to an amp in the trunk for a sub, but use the HU and stock wiring to power the door speakers. I want to take the Bose amp and "sub" out of the trunk, but don't know if that'll kill the power to the door speakers. Anyone know? Pls. advise. Thanks!

If it is a Bose system then all speakers are amp powered.
you can "low-level" into the factory amp, but it may not get as loud as you like, depending on the output voltage of your HU, or you can "high-level" into the amp, but if you listen to loud music you will more than likely end up blowing the amp. Also sometimes you get a turn on "thump" when you do this. When I was an installer, the only time I would run speaker level in on a Bose amp is when I knew the person was not going to be listneing to the system at high volumes.

The one amp on the rear deck powers everything. So take out the sub but dont take out the amp. Then, to power your door speakers, you can either use the PAC or Scosche $50 Bose adapter, or if you bought a radio with 3 pairs of preouts, you can splice into the front and rear RCA cable, wire this into the harness at the back of the radio, and this will send an unamplified audio signal to the bose amps. If you decide to do that 2nd route than post back and ill explain it more detailed.
