Yellow Power Wire (memory/constant)

I was installing my new alpine hu in my 3ed gen maxima and i noticed it wouldnt turn on. I tested all the wires and found that the yellow power wire, which is the constant power coming out of my wireing harness wasnt pushing out any juice . I tried to fallow the wire but it was to difficult, so for the time being i just ran a wire straight from the battery, threw the firewall, and into the back of my HU, and it works fine. Did I blow a fuse? Is this wire from my batt goin drain it?

its very possible a fuse is blown - and no u wont drain the battery by doing it that way.

wouldn't u rather just find the problem and fix it?

If you leave it hooked up to the battery (which I wouldn't suggest doing) be sure to put a fuse on it. But I think I'd find the problem as dj said. prolly just your radio fuse. Are you sure you have the right wire for power feed?
