Thinking of putting 6x9's in.

Has anyone put 6x9's in the rear deck of a 2002 SE? Do they sound better in the rear deck than on the rear doors?

man, don't do it. An oval speaker, by design is inferior to a round speaker. Does the 02's not have speakers in the rear deck?

Absolutley not. First off, sound is best suited for round cones, not the football shaped 6x9s. Secondly, rear fill should be minimal, if at all. If you desire any rear fill you should upgrade the rear speakers and power them off the HU. Focus 100% on the front soundstage as a properly imaged/set-up front soundstage will fill the entire vehicle.

So 6.5's will be just fine? I plan on running all speakers with a JL 300/4.

If I were you I would ditch the rear fill and run 2 channels on a really good front stage and bridge the other two channels on a sub(s). That is all you will ever need. When you go to a concert you never hear music coming from behind you.

Just buy a quality 6.5" component set and mount them in the stock locations. Unless you are a super audiofile, and you are wanting to compete, this will work out great.

I'm putting Boston SL60 components up front and might just get some boston 6.5 for the rear doors. Also adding JL 12" sub.

seriously man, this would be a total waste, and it would kill your imaging. Save this money and buy a nicer front stage. Check out the DLS Ultimate Iridium 6.2's.

I've never heard of DLS Ultimate Iridium. How much are they and where can I buy them?

The really high end brands hardly ever filter down to the main stream buyer. You more than likely have also not heard much about Dynaudio, Morel, Focal, etc, etc, etc. However these name are exponentially superior to Boston, Alpine, Clarion, Rockford, etc. These components will run you between $5-600.
http://www.dls-america.com/ That is the US web site. I also have ties with Scott Buwalda who is a dealer in Atlanta. He is more than happy to ship out product.

They sound like competition speakers. A little more than I wanted to spend, but thanks for the info.
