Hooking up sub to enclosure
Hooking up sub to enclosure
Hey guys,
I am mounting my 12" sub to the enclosure, however I don't have any mounting screws. Which ones should I get?
Also, if I mount 2 speakers in parallel, I know that the impedance goes down, but what happens to the power? If one of my channels on the amp sends out 250w max, how would that be divided between a 6x9 220w and a 6" 180w?
Thanks!

Almost anything will work, I usually use the drywall type screws we have at work.
Dropping the impedance increases the output of your amp. Your amp will send the same amount of power to each speaker no matter what the size of it is. So lets say both those speakers your hooking up are 4 ohms each wired to one channel, so that channel will see a 2 ohm load. If that channel puts out 250 watts at 2 ohms, then each speaker should theoretically see 125 watts. I wouldnt really advise it...why not just get a 4 channel or something thats meant to do what your going to make it do?

For mounting the sub to the box, i read that you should use hex bolts and T nuts, it makes it easier to take the sub out if you have to for what ever reason. But i still haven't built a box before...
Does anybody have any heads up, or things that i should watch out for?

I always use 1 inch drywall, and predrilling is a must.
