Speaker Problem!

I had stock speakers on my GXE. I installed sony xplod 220 watt speakers in the front and left the back ones stock last week. This setup sounded normal. Today I put in the rear sony xplod speakers (same as front) and now I have all 4 of the same speakers. The problem is that they sound like sh*t. There is very limited bass on them and I dont have a subwoofer. My stock rear speakers had about 10 times more bass than the ones I put in today. Is there a problem with something here? Should it sound this way? Will getting an alpine 9847 headunit solve this problem? (dont recommend subwoofers because I want to get this setup working normal without the sub for now)

Thanks

check the wiring to the speakers and make sure they're correct (plus to plus, minus to minus). if you wire some speakers out of phase, a cancelation effect will happen, and bass response will be crap.

Will it still work if its wired the wrong way? I think I did it right...any other possibilities?

if one of the speakers has the polarity reversed, does that make the rest of the system sound like @#$*?

another problem is powering aftermarket (especially sony) speakers off the headunit. You really should look into an amped setup with high quality components if you really don't want to install a subwoofer

I was wondering the same thing, I've heard that aftermarket speakers on a stock headunit are kind of a bad combination since usually stock headunits provide less power, the speakers are just more efficient. The back left speaker on my 92 max is out and i want to replace it without touching the head unit. So any suggestions?

get a factory speaker - it will sound as good as your other 3

or, replace the rear pair. it will sound clearer but still wont be powered enough
