After market radio

I have a 93 Maxima SE with the BOSE system. The radio has stopped playing but the cassette still works. The man at the car stereo shop says that it would be better for me to have the system fixed for $200 because the amplifier would have to be bypassed and the ohms in the speaker. If I buy an after market radio like Sony, the system might blow because of the low ohms that the speaker puts out. Is this true? I would like to keep the speakers and replace the radio w/ one that has cassette and 10 CD changer. Which is the better of the two? What is a good model for my Max if I change it?

You CAN use the Bose speaker/amplifer system in your max
You need to get an adapter by Soundgate that plugs into
your sony deck to allow a direct interface to the Bose
system. The item number is NIB1 or NIB2. Check with
your local car audio shops

Crutchfield sells one by Diversity ($50) that does the job well, according to them. Peripheral makes one also, that typically retails for $60. I think the Soundgate that Maxima Dave mentioned is also $60. This is a very commonly applied adapter, as Bose systems weren't very reliable in Maximas. Even with the '99 Maxima, there have been problems. Beats me why they just don't drop that line and go with another vendor.

so, i have recently put a alpine cva-1005 in my 97'max.....I have finally got everything to work right, except for the fact that i have no audio.......i seems like the amps on the bose aren't turning on.....I hooked up a old horn tweeter to the speaker wires on the harness and it played music......so im thinking that the amps are just not turning on....but the local stereo shop said that they might be broken......but i don't know how or why they would be, they worked before....also, i have an alpine 12disc changer and it also has no audio....could this be because i need the special interface for it to work since the stereo thinks i am using the stock deck?????? thank you
Ps. the nib2 by soundgate only says for like 91-94, and the nib1 says like 88-90, so which one is it????

I've tried the NIB2's on certain 65-98 maxes and they
work good. You should seriously consider having your
CVA1005 professionally installed into your Bose system
What is sounds like is that your Alpine deck's remote
turn on wire may not be interfaced with the bose system
w/ the adapter. Check Gary95's email reply on other
vendors for the adapter if the Soundgate ones do not work

You need the Soundgate, or diversity inverter to make
the audio work. Get one installed and you should hear
sound coming through your system Soundgate tells me
the adapter will work with some of the 94+ maximas
