problems with my se-r

i know this is for my sentra, but i figure you maxima guys can help me out. couldnt get much answers on sr20forums. http://sr20forum.com/showthread.php?t=104544

there is the link. basically the questions is, can my system fry my alternator. after i replaced my alternator, the car was running fine and volts were up. as soon as i put my face on, volts dropped dramatically even with no volume. then the alternator would not charge anymore. the wierd thing is, i was running this system for about a half a year like this with no problem. if it is possible for a system to fry an alternator, i will just replace it and drive with no stereo. my car is too fast to be sitting in the garage. id much rather listen to the engine than the stereo anyways. thanks
