What happened to these brands

Hey Guys,

I used to be into custom car stereo stuff when I was in HS back in 97.

What ever happened to these brands? I hear no one mention them anymore?

Phoenix Gold
Precision Power (PPI)
Autotek
a/d/s (I think)
MB Quart
Dynaudio
Focal

That's because you may only be looking at this particular audio forum, and you're probably only checking out CC and Best Buy.

Take a look around the http://www.caraudio.com and http://www.elitecaraudio.com forums and you'll hear plenty of these names.

I have MB quart and phoenix gold components in my car right now. I am getting an 800 watt phoenix gold amp tomorrow. My buddy has a/d/s components and a huge precision power amp. Trust me amn, the sh*t's still out there. Those are all quality brands and are pretty reliable to this day. Now people really like Diamond Audio for components, and MB quart is financial jeopardy ( they got bought out by Rockford Fosgate and then dropped subsequently and are now filing bankruptcy in Germany). MB Quart's stuff is getting harder to find on ebay. I love their speakers and I'm gonna have to get some more soon. If you want another great car audio forum go to http://soundoff.phoenixgold.com/ . Awesome advice on fine tuning your amps, wiring help, used equip classifieds, etc.

PG is still doing well. Their new comp set is made by morel and i hear it kicks ***.
PPI got bought out and their new stuff is queer.
Autotek is still midlevel.
a/d/s is still around, just not as popular as it was.
MB Quart still makes good stuff, but there are more brands that match its performance nowadays.
Dynaudio still kicks ***.
Focal is still making good stuff, still expensive though
