flaten aftermarket receiver on panel

I have an aftermarket receiver. The detachable face sticks out too far. I would like it flat to the panel. How do you folks do it?

Redrill holes into the metal brackets that you screw your radio into, so that the holes are farther back.

I flush-mounted my HU (as well as centered it in the double-DIN hole) without drilling. I just made custom brackets that bolt into the stock brackets. Worked perfectly.

What did you use to fill the 1/2 din on either side of the radio?

Either way thats too much work for a lazy @ss like me, and kinda pointless

IIRC, the rear holes on the HU were beyond the stock brackets when in the flush-mount position, so no amount of redrilling would provide the facilities to mount the HU. Therefore, my brackets are not pointless, but a necessity.

I made a silver crystalite trim panel to go around the HU. I used the same trim for all of my speakers, too. And the trim panels are backlit with blue LEDs.

I’m curious how you redrill those new holes. It appears that the stock holes will need to be cut half open. How do you do it.

ohh i gotcha...
You can either try and screw right next to them, since I dont think this would be moving the deck back too far, or you can just go ahead and drill so they come in contact because even if they do, if the screw holds the deck tight to the bracket, it still shouldnt move.
