My Speaker Install (Pix)
I really thought that taking apart the backseat would have been a bigger pain in the a$$ but it took me a total of maybe 15 min. Only problem was that I managed to crack one of the pillars a little (no biggie).
I purchased 6 3/4 Alpine Type R's off cruchfield and they fit with no problem. I'm pretty happy with the sound, probably gonna end up getting the same for the front. I really surprised with the clarity and bass even with the stock head unit.
Total Time - 45-60 Min
Total Cost - $160.00
I'd Say its pretty much blown!

Really I had the 4 ways in my old car paired with a pretty high end pioneer headunit ($350). They didnt sound too bad.
What componets do you recommend without having to do too much modding to get them to fit?

You could look around and find an amazing deal like the one I found.
Rainbow SLC-265 comps for $105 AFTER SHIPPING! Hehehe.
Oh yeah, here are some pics of my "spacers." We just cut the factory speaker out of its shell, cut away all of the supports in the middle, and the jack for the speaker, and then screwed the new speaker onto the remains of the spacer. We had to use the grill ring that came with the Rainbows to make it work, and it JUST fits inside the door panel, but it worked out pretty nicely. We also siliconed between the speaker and the ring and between the ring and the spacer.

Right now I have Pioneer 3-way 6x3/4 and they sound pretty good, nice and clear. But since I have an Alpine head unit, and just got 2 12inch Alpine Type-R's (2005 model) I was strongly thinking of getting the Alpine Type-R 6x3/4's. Do they sound as nice as they look, hows the clarity? congrats man.

if i decide to go with the 6.5 in. Alpine type R for the front and rears will i need to amp them or will the bose factory amps be able to handle them???
i have pioneer 4 way in the front and pioneer 3 ways in the back right now and they sound really nice....just not that much bass.....
i want to try to avoid buying a 4 channel and a amp kit....will the bose fact. amps power the type R's?

i just picked up some crystal csc60 components for the front and some boston rc620 woofers for the back, at a total cost of 190.00 for both. the crystals are supposedly amazing given their reasonable price. Im trying to go subless so im hoping the bass from these speakers is sufficient....something tells me it wont be though...

past their prime? I tested about 10 different types of 6.5 speakers. Ranging from MB Quart to Jbl to Boston to alpine. And the pioneer sounded a lot better.. Especially better than the alpine s's and r's that everyone is having a boner about... beside pioneer has been around how long? 67 years... i believe that with time comes experience and with experience comes excellence
