If all the wiring checks out in the trunk, check the wires on the inside of the box. Also check the RCA's on the HU side. I had an intermittent problem with sound cutting out, and a loose RCA turned out to be the culprit. I hope that it is an easy fix.

check all above what 1996blackmax mentioned. sounds like something loose is making sporadic connectivity.

I'm not sure how your remote is wired, but that's the problem I had with mine. Of course I have a switch to kill the amp. My system was putting out so much bass it rattled the connectors loose on the switch.

2 Da Max is right.

The last time the connection was loose, it was due to the connection having too much tension.

I do not recommend this, but I remember I had some RCA's that were loose on one of my first systems and I just kind of crushed the ends just enough to make them tight. This was pretty ghetto though, but it worked. Back in those high school era days I wanted to use the money for gas instead .

check everything on the amp. For some reason after moving my amp around it stopped working. So i started playing with all the adjustments and some phase control switch that i've never touched was how i got it to work. I moved it over and then back to where it was before and out of nowhere bass came back. hope that helps.

Sounds like a bad install to me... that's why I only do my own. Where did you get this done btw?

As for an amp going out like that... underpowering Bad ground, too much vibration, gain adjustments too high. There's quite a few things can go wrong. What size wiring did they put in?

had it done by my friends older brother who installs car audio $hit in a shop for a living. i'm running 0 gauge from the battery to the back which then gets broken down to smaller gauge. i'm not an expert with this stuff so i mean wut do u mean by a high gain adjustment ? u think that amp iisnt powerful enough for those subs? as for the box heres a pic. http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...508_3_full.jpg

Nice clean install, shouldn't been anything wrong with it, so it's probably a bad amp.

As for the gain, there's a little **** that you can turn, to up the power the amp sends the subs. If adjusted too high, it could blow the subs... or over work the amp. Causing premature failure.

Is there rubber washers on the bottom of the amp where it mounts? This helps with vibration, really important when the amp is that close to the subs, and mounted on the box.

I used to install for a living before I joined. And believe me, you can make mistakes even after years of doing it. I'm currently at 7 years of installing stereos... 5 doing setups on subs for SQ or SPL competitions. And I've messed up a couple of times... luckily before the customer ever got their vehicle back. Last 4 years I've been lucky, of course I only do it on the side now.

i'm pretty sure i dont have rubber washers at the bottom of the L brackets but i got some in the garage i could unscrew and throw in there. thats pretty hot u been in the business for this long but i guess now its just a hobby. as for the gain screw how do i know how much juice to give the subs? my amp its still under a one yr warr. so i just have to send it back. i just dont want to have this problem again. thanks kcidmil for everything

Usually you adjust till it the subs sound right where you want them... but the Max... I repeat THE MAX.. is around halfway. The best way to do it is to turn the gain all the way down, and slowly turn it up till you get your subs right where you want them.

Yeah, I've been doing this for a long time... (since about 15) but there's people out there who can do it better than I can. There's a guy who hit 158.9 db with a 300 watt amp. Now that's a setup and tuning. I've hit 147.6 with my pure SQ setup before, using a 500 watt Memphis amp. But I don't think I could tune a system that well for a 158.9 out of a 300 watt setup.

Now I just setup systems for a little extra cash... not much, but enough to fill the tank in my Frontier and Maxima.

Yeah, when you get your amp back I would recommend adding those rubber washers.

i adjusted my gains by setting the HU to the volume at which i listen to, then slowly turn the gain up on my amp until i start to hear distortion from my sub, then i turn it back down a little bit.

I set mine up similar to that... but I usually leave a lot room to up the power. Of course mine is setup for a truck instead of car. You notice distortion a lot sooner.

how exactly did you hear distortion with your setup and xbl2? im curious as to how it sounds "distorted" as compared to conventional motor design.

nah, this was for my old tens. i just set it to it starts going 'braap braap' instead of 'boom boom' and eased back on it. i didn't touch the gains on the amp when i bridged it to my brahma...even though i should. don't want one VC to get more power than the other one.
