i have 2 Jl audio W3v2 subs one is a
10W3v2 D2 and the other is a 10W3v2 D4.
the box i will be using them in is a JL audio Maxima Stealth box.
I don't know much about audio so any help would be appreciated.

 

If u r only using one i would go with the 10W3v2 D2. That way u can power it with a 1ohm amp. U'll b getting more power for ur money running an amp at 1ohm. Do u have an amp already? If so let us know...it may make a difference if u do.

 

i was planning on using a MTX THUNDER4202 i had.

if that amp is 1 ohm stable then yes, i'd get sub that's dvc 2 ohms. if that amp can't take the load, it'll just overheat and go into protection mode. otherwise, i'd wire the 2 ohm dvc sub into a series yielding a 4 ohm load....which most amps are stable at this level.

sorry i am clue less. can you recommend a better amp to use. i wanna know which sub would be better so i can sell the other.

 

According to the manual, the amp is stable into 2ohms stereo/4ohms mono. Choose the dual 2ohm sub and wire a coil to each channel or series the coils and run the amp mono.

That's gonna be a nice setup. I like those xr's, I want to pick up a set of those by the end of the summer if I make enough money for both those and school. Where did you find the stealth box? I was looking for one for a while, but I couldn't find one so I got a JL 12w3v2 and built a ported box for it instead. That sub and that box will definately give you more than you would expect from one 10.

 

i bought this stealth box fom an org memeber but i know a kid at school who is selling one for $200
