I want to try and help my friend install a head and four in his 99 maxima (automatic). So far I know I need the din adapter so that we can switch from a double din to a single, antenna dapter, wiring harness and speaker adapters to connect the stock speaker wiring to the aftermarket speakers. Do you guys have instructions on how to take apart the dash and the speaker surroundings? If I order just the din adapter, wiring harness and the antenna adapter from Crutchfield will they give me the instructions or would I have to order a speakers or head for them to give me the instructions? Thank you for your help in advance.

Ok, to start you need to get the plastic around the shifter off.... to do this, pop out the cup holders, and just stick your finger under the shifter and pop it up....then just turn it sideways and over the shifter, and set it off to the side....then take a flat head screw driver and pry out the vents above the deck.....careful this is a little tricky.... then you'll see 2 gold screws on the top, and two on the bottom....the one on the right side of the ash tray is a *****, i just used a magnetic screw driver so i wouldnt drop it.... then the whole unit will just lift out....
as for the door speakers, there are two screws on the bottom side of the door, take those out, take the screw out of the little pocket on the handle, and then pop out the plastic trim piece around the door handle.... then just lift straight up on the whole panel and it will come off...then just disconnect the wiring harnesses and your all set...........

ok, heres what i did... after i unscrewed the bottom screws on the panel, i pulled the door handle like i was opening the door... then just carefully pry on the plastic trim piece out&to the left, if takes a while but it'll come out........careful not to break it though...that would suck!!!!:P

It didn't want to move so I was able to pull the door away and get back there. Do all the maximas have that white cover over the speaker? It made things a lot easy. Sounds great.
