BOSE and cheap way to wire an amp/sub?

I am really bad at navigating online.

I cant seem to find any info on wiring an amp/sub cheaply. I saw wiring packages that cost like $60-100 to create RCA outputs and such but I dont want to get that involved.

Is there a way I can just tap into the power wires that go to my rear BOSE speakers and wire the amp off of that. I know its not ideal but if it works its really my only route because I dont have $100 to spend. I am getting the amp/sub for free. Are there any write ups?

You can't do it that way. You will have to purchase an amp wiring kit along with RCA cables to the HU.

I would recommend using wires from knukonceptz.com...great stuff there

nah u dont need to buy anything like an adapter unless you only want to use RCA. if you want to do it a cheap and easy way then do what i did and buy an amp with a high level input [maybe not EXACTLY the term] and splice it into your rear deck speakers, run power, ground, etc and youre good. to use the amp that you're getting for free, it might not have this right.. but i think u can also get a line level converter whatever to RCA and do that, because you cant choose your amp right. i dont know a TON about what im saying. lol

the high level input worked awsome for me and the stock BOSE HU looks nice and clean. what i wanted. also i didnt want to buy an adapter. the amp i bought came with a wiring kit when i bought it, u can go to walmart and theyre pretty cheap. or wherveere. i asked for a while, how can i wire an amp up and keep it ghetto-cheap, and nobody told me about this way.

$20 high low converter > high level input, but if you really dont care about your sound quality (which im assuming you dont really since your keeping the bose head unit) then whatever. However you WILL need to run new power and remote turn on, just get some walmart wire like said above if your cheap, because there is only 12 or 14 gauge running to each bose amp, and the bose amp is much smaller than any aftermarket amp.

yea the hi low adapter goes to the right and left positive and neg rear bose speakers, or you could run it to the back of the bose hu and match the colors up. it sounds pretty distorted though compared to a good aftermaket hu.

Sorry to hijack, but. . .

I'm new to the forum, so I can't start my own threads yet, so. . .

I just got an 02 I35, and I plan on putting my old audio equipment in it, and I was wondering if there was a faq or common thread that details all the good-to-know info, such as techniques for power wire runs through the car, amplifier wiring diagram/location [I assume there's an amp somewhere], common speaker sizes [I believe I've seen 6.5" & 5.25" in the doors, but what about the tweets], step-by-step head-unit removal, door panel removal, tweeter removal, etc. . . [so I don't miss a screw and break a panel or something].

I know most of the stuff in this forum pertains to the maxima, but I figured they share audio components, too. If not, I'll ask again [on someone else's thread ] on the I35 forum to try to get more info.

btw, I'm fairly versed in audio installation, the ins-and-outs of forums, etc. . . and certainly have tried searching google for this type of stuff [since I haven't donated yet, and can't search from here], but to little avail.

Thanks for all your help, and again, I certainly wouldn't have hijacked your thread, if I had any choice in the matter.

Look forward to frequenting your forum.

Wire configuration for Bose head unit

I drive an 2001 Max and I am installing an amp and subs in the back. And I have ran into much the same problem as the guy before me. Except that I am trying to put in the adapter for the Right+ Right- Left+ Left- and ground to RCA Cables and when I popped off the HU it I couldn't figure out which wires to swap...or what the consequences are. Any suggestions?

Also can I remove the rear stock subwoofer and use those wires from the HU to tap into and not effect the rear door speakers?
