Using Jap-Spec Double Din CD Players....

Hello all.
Well the time has come when i will finally get rid of this bose HU.

I would really like to know if the Japan-spec Double Din CD/MD players sold on ebay will ACTUALLY work.

It says it will include a FM converter for this item and i never see many being bid on so how real are these.

If you look at like this one.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...769049763&rd=1
How crazy would that HeadUnit be... NO-one in the us would ever see that again.

So are these too deep for U.S. cars?
Is there more extensive wiring needed for a Maxima or does ANYONE have any info on these......

THanks for any insight and help.

If I remember correctly, the asian radio's use a different FM band than we do. Ours goes from like 88.1 - 107.9. Theirs is different.
( I'm only saying this cuz when I went to Jamaica and drove a JDM Integra type R that was one of the things I noticed.) But, I could be wrong.

Yes, that's correct, although I don't know to what extent he'd see problems with radio reception...personally, I can't live without teh Siriuis!!!!

do not buy it !!!! $495 + 75 shipping is way overpriced for used unit !!!!

I've lived in Japan for 4 years and there are stores with used car parts that sell inake/wheels/suspension and auto audio stuff for dirt cheap !!!!! , those are great deal when bought there ( i think unit like that could be purchased for less than $200)

but somebody is just trying to make $$$ by huge mark up !!!!

when i visited my inlaws last year , i've lost my head in one of those used parts shops
that one was one of Guliver chain shops,

double din CD/MD decks were dirt cheap , but i didn't want to risk it

Stay away !!!!

Nick.

On a completley preverted and immature note, it'd be kinda funny to put a sticker on the HU that reads, "YOUR HOOTERS MUST BE THIS BIG TO GET ON THIS RIDE."

I bought the Kenwood Double-Din HU. Looks great. I used the GXE trim so it looks a whole lot better than a dash kit with a single-din.
