Here's the trunk fully taped

Yeah, we got some chopmat!!!!!

And now, finally, the first layer...this took FOREVER. I am so glad I will not have to do another layer in the trunk, it sucked.

Nice work! Are you going to be able to get that out of there? What type and brand of resin are you using?

sweet. So basically, it will be in the same shape as the old box was going to be or will you be able to open the little door on the seats and see the speakers? Just wondering.

Alright, got some more work done today...

Picture of the trunk stencil removed...took a bit of elbow grease to get this thing out!!!

Ok, then I trimmed the sides and the front & rear...

And finally, I added the second reinforcing layer to the sides and curves for strength.

Ok, guys - nothing major done in the past week, but I will be getting the boxes and hopefully wrapping by this weekend!!!!!

Here's a shot of where the subwoofer will be aiming in towards the cabin...1sqft. sealed for my Koda 10. (I <3 XBL2)

And a shot of what the false floor looks like. Note that I did not attach it or anything just yet...I still have to post the 2x4s in order to mount the boxes.

I also had him cut a recess on the inside of the boxes so I can run EL wire for lighting inside the boxes.

A shot of the secured false floor and bracing for subwoofer box cutout.

Here's a shot of the amp box mounted...the boards underneath are there because I have not fully secured the backing yet. I need to remove the amp box to trace out the lines for the crossovers.

I did, however, have to go back and change the mounting of the amplifier rack. It did not look right as is; in the pic it is centered with the 'glass; I changed the mounting to NOW center with the trunk.

Another problem I now have to contend with is the mounting of the crossover boxes in a position such that the fleece will not interfere with the trunk operations. No problem, it will just limit the angle I can mount them on.

More pics as things develop!

nice work man !! by the way ...where are you getting all the supplies from ?? any recommendations on brands and maybe the rite price to pay for them ?? i was thinking on making two boxes...to fit them on the sides of the trunk, you know like one on top of where the jack goes (like behind the tailights..)and the othe one on the opposite side...any thoughts on this ?? i think it would be goo as to keep a lot of trunk space...

You can get all of the supplies from home depot, I would suggest not paying any more than $30/gallon of resin. Employing the method you mention for two subs would be a fantastic setup, just understand the space tradeoff you are going to incur as a result...don't forget your amps have to go somewhere, too.

Alright, the first thing I had to do was trim out and clean the sides of the fiberglass. Here's the right side...

...and now the left side...

...and from the front.

For bracing everything, I used Liquid Nails Perfect Glue Formual #1 for the wood, and used simple decking brackets for support.

Here's the subwoofer cutout...

...and the amp box.

NOW, finally time to wrap it. I am using polar fleece as my material of choice since it is both stretchy and thick.

Pic of the ight side...

...and of the left side from the rear...

...and from the rear...

...and the front.

Now, time to resin the thing up! The resin did not go on as nicley in some areas as I would have hoped, but nothing a little sanding cannot mend.

As seen from the left...

...and the right...you can also see what I like to refer to as "fiberglass tumors", I'll sand these out after it cures.

...and of the rear...

...and from the front!
