Is this safe?

Is it O.K. to run a 4 guage wire from the battery to a capacitor. Then have two 8 guage wires come from the capacitor to each of my amps. Would i need to have a fuse on each line?

Or would i be better off splitter the 4 guage, with a splitter, into two 8 guages.

Reason I am asking is to see if i can save money by not having to by a splitter, and basically using the capacitor i have now as a splitter.

What you did will be fine. My first system was wired the same way for three yrs with no issue.

So just having one fuse on the main power wire (4 guage) will be O.K.? I don't need any other fuses on the 8 guages?

Alright cool. I have a 150 Amp fuse on my 4 guage wire. I have a 1200 watt amp and a 600 watt amp. Does that seem like the right "ampage" fuse to have on that line, or should i do a lesser powered fuse.

if anything you need larger wire if in fact those are the rms ratings.

if u want to know the amperage of the fuse u need in the line just add the number on ur fuses together. if u have 2 25 amp fuses in 1 amp and 1 30 amp fuse in another u need a 80 amp fuse in the line. 25+25+30 = 80

No, those are the peak power wattage

So it might be overkill with that 150A fuse...that could be bad.. right?

150 is bad IMO for a real 900 watts rms....try an 80 amp fuse and if you keep blowing those you will see that the amps put out more power than i guessed, or you are clipping and drawing more current from the amps. you have to understand music almost never draws the full power from the amps.

It really wouldn't b a bad thing to have a 150A fuse would it? Isn't it just more than he needs?

well if your amps will never pull much more than HALF that current then it is a bad thing because it almost serves no purpose.
