Do i need a video switcher?

I have a trunk keyhole mounted camera installed pre-wired and ready to go. I at first wanted to be able to switch to the camera on the fly. I had later found out that my head unit (DVH-P5000MP) doesn't have another video input for me to hook up the camera. I bought a video switcher to solve the problem.

A few months pass and i forget about getting the video switcher installed into my car. I have the video switcher brand new in the box, untouched. Thing is NOW, i changed my mind and I want the camera to come on when i put the car into reverse. Do i still need the video switcher?

Yes youll still need the switcher, but it wont go auto on in reverse, unless the switcher is left with the camera input on.
