Need new sub, what to get

Alright, well I was going to buy a resonant engineering XXX 12, but i got pulled over for window tint and missed the auction. Tint was legal too...and i was on the moon at the time...but anyway...so I didn't get the RE...now I'm looking at an MTX 9500, an Orion H2, or a JL W7, all 12in woofers. I have a rockford fosgate 1000 watt amp. Any of these subs? Any other suggestions? Let me know, getting tired of not having any bass...

i believe the OZ elite subs are similar to the ID max which is a good thing. I'd also add the SS RLP 12, Ascendant audio avalanche 12, and the upcoming stereo Integrity D2 12.

Memphis M-Class sounds a little bit better than the JL does. But for the 1000 watt amp, the M3's would be better choice. They run right around $200 ea

Well, a few things to consider when getting a sub.

(1) What kind of performance are you looking for? SQ or SPL?
(2) How big of a box can you use?
(3) What kind of power will you be able to supply to the sub?

Very true there Metal Max.

M3's will give you good SPL... and still have some good SQ.

If you're out for more SQ, I'd recommend the M-Class. They have excellent SQ, and can still give you a good score on your SPL.

Yeah, d00d. I think that all too often people just run the gauntlet and buy a sub without considering some very important fundamentals.

I know if I didn't I would be running two ported Infinity Kappa Perfects instead of my sealed Koda.

Oh, and Saddles...don't let anyone tell you otherwise but one of the most important thing you will need to consider in all of this is what kind of box you will be making...it's what separates the men from the boys.

Lol, well the box is up in the air, depends on what im getting. Hopefully i can find a sub on ebay with a box already intact. If not, I will be building one from mdf or having one built to the specifications of the sub. Size isn't a real issue as long as it fits in my trunk with a little bit of extra space. I was running dual infinity kappa perfects but they both locked. I am going for SQ mainly and SPL secondly.

alright well skip ebay then please... i like the idea of a sealed 15 with the power you have on tap. dual 12's would be nice too.

A 15in MTX 9500 for $350 locally, box will be custom built was one of my main ideas, but wasn't sure what i wanted to do. Do you think this would be one of my best bets? I've heard that 15in lose some SQ over the smaller subs, like 12s or 10s. My highs are all amped infinitys and SQ is important to me as well as something that hits hard.

in a sealed box IMO if the 15 is designed right you will not notice any loss in sq.

MA Audio 120xe they are rated at 350wrms and they can handle your 1000w
ive heard of guys putting that much power to them and getting stupid loud!
or you can go with the 1200XL that is more of SQL than SPL. given they both get loud the 1200XL sounds better, but you can get the 120xe for about half the price. I have pair of Premier 12s that seem to work relly well, i feed the 200wrms and was getting about 135-38dbs... Adire Brahma 12 is probally the best sub i mentioned so far but your going to pay a lot for it. And i think you should go with a sealed box for your install, IMO its the best for SQ.

You could put it in a sealed box with a slightly angled front |_\ but you will have to worry about the mounting depth. Or you might be able to make it "up-firing" as long as the the box will fit through the opening in the trunk.

Eclipse subs are awesome and good luck.
