good ground in the trunk

hi im using my trunk lock bolt as a ground right now and the wire is short...so its always in the way, even with my messy wirring job. whats a better place to put it back there? also the guage of wire is like 12 or 10 i think, is it alright if i used 8guage speaker wire instead? i dont know what power goes through a ground wire like this one.. when i put it somewhere else, it doesnt work or it sparks
if i can use this speaker wire to do a half assed job then id just use the same ground spot but i can use this roll of wire i have here to put around neatly instead of through the middle of my trunk in the way. anyways thanks

the ground wire should be as short as possible, and be of the same gauge of the power wire. just find a good solid spot on the chassis and ground it there. be sure to sand off any paint in the area to insure a solid ground.

umm youve got other problems if your using a 12 gauge ground. Dont tell me your running 12 gauge power too. Even the smallest of amps should get 8 gauge power and ground IMO. And +1 to ascendant.

PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYCE?? Oh **** I havent installed my ebonics translator yet.

that's a big **** wire going to your subs. imagine trying bend a 0 gauge around to a dvc sub to wire it into a series

Ive never done it . . but I think you COULD use speaker wire for your ground.. if thats what you are asking.

As far as placement.... you can pop a sheet metal screw through anywhere you like.. Just sand the sit a bit beforehand to clear the paint. And do it somewhere where you arent going to cause a leak. Thats the easy yet good way to do it.

oy vey i missed this thread...12 gauge is only meant for 2 things: a shotgun or strictly speaker wire.
