I have a 92 gxe. I plan on putting in 6.5 comps up front/6x9 in back and 1 12" sub. The biggest problem I am having is with the 6.5 comps and the Head unit. I used to be biased towards Alpine but I haven't had one in a couple of years. I was thinking either Alpine/Eclipse or Pioneer for HU. I went to Circuit City and liked the sound of the Kicker 6.5 the best out of all the other 6.5 on display. I plan to wire my own car but might pay to have someone clean up the trunk area (make it look good) I do not know how to do that part. I just need some feedback. Also my budget is about 200 for 6.5, 350 for HU, 160 for 6x9 and about 150 for sub. I plan on profile amps because amps get expensive real fast . I just want a decent sounding system.

 

i work at circuit city and the kicker stuff is pretty awesome, we sell a lot of it. check out their subs, especially the solo baric. i prefer the pioneer head units. im not a big fan of alpine, i think its over rated just like audiobahn; doesn't sound that great for the money. don't get cheap when it comes to the amp either.

 

yah i have kicker solobarics i love em check ebay might be able to get em a little cheaper and as for a head unit pioneer man can't go wrong ive had my pioneer hu for about three years and love it im actually looking to buy an avic n1 right now

 

Thanks guys. I loved the kicker sound too. My old system I had kicker impulse comps and 6x9 with alpine v12 amp. 1 xtant 12 in bandpass with profile amp. The amp actually did pretty good. i also had an alpine motorized HU. I got the speakers cornered from your advice and from looking at caraudioforums; but the HU's and amps are driving me crazy. I just want my system to sound clean with a nice bump

 

you do know that our stock front speakers do not accept 6.5" right? they're either 4" or 4x6 depending if you have the bose or not.

you can still fit 6.5s up front though, you just need to fab up a mount for them...or you can get a set of mounts from james92se for 35 bucks i believe (i bought them awhile back, forgot price)

 

yeah I knew that. I had it done on my other maxima with a hole cut in panel for tweets; but I don't want to cut nothing in my panel this time. When I am ready for comps I will contact james92se i heard good stuff about his mounts. Which by the way is a very good price. I think I might go kicker front and back like how they sound but on caraudio forums some guys kind of made their own component sets and say they sound awesome. It's a work in progress After i get car road ready system is next. thanks for the info.
