Don Is this true?

I talked to the local stereo shop guys and I know they are really knowledgable but they said they with the nissan maximas you dont need the PAC kit. They stated that its the way the bose unit handles bose that you wouldnt need it. It would be louder this way but you can adjust it via deck volume.

What do you guys think?

Well it's true you don't need the PAC kit, I've seen Don describe the other way to install it...have no clue about the 'being louder' thing.

It is true the PAC or any other adaptor isnt needed. Simply done by adding/splicing male RCAs to your HU speaker leads, then plug them into the aftermarket HU preouts. Theres no power from the Bose HU, just signal. Your basically just replacing the signal source from Bose to aftermarket.

Louder? Doubtful, but possible all dependant on the HU you choose.
