amp recomendations, 600-1000 watts @ 2 ohms

any suggestions? i can get a sick sick deal on a kenwood kac-9152d, but the thing i don't like about it is that the ssf isn't fully adjustable. the highest it will go is 25 hz (i'm planning to go ported again with the new setup)

budget wise, no more than $400. any ideas? i've been eyeing the eD NINe.1 as well...

damn, who wouldve thought you would say memphis.

Simply based on the ****/scams Ive read about Ben Milne, the owner of eD, I will probably never buy an eD product. Register at SI.com and find the Ben Milne Love Parade thread for info.

I was gonna say a D61000.1 but then I remembered theyre 1 ohm stable too. Not sure on amps that are 2 ohm stable, but Im sure you can find something nice in that price range.

i frequent si.com every now and then, but mainly lurk in the adire and ascendant forums, but yeah, i gotta check that thread out, seems interesting why wouldn't the amps be 2 ohm stable if it's stable at 1? it's using less power...

it will be stable at 2 ohms if its stable at 1 ohm, but you wont get nearly as much power out of it

dont have a long time to post but gordon you KNOW better than to mention ED in this thread... gl on the amp search and get a kx600.1 from don. at least 720 watts @2 ohms and a 25hz SSF which is perfect.

p.s. NY is amazing.

KX1200.1 should do just about 800 watts at 2 ohms and can definately be had for less than 400.

Arc Kar 900.1 will do 650 @2ohm, 900x1 @1ohm if you ever need the flexibility/more power in the future

yeah, the kicker kx1200.1 goes for like $800 in most places i've looked. rich's been telling me the kx600.1 for awhile now, i'll go have a look-see later on. thanks for the suggestions fellas, keep them coming.

reason i ask for 2 ohms, is because the sound splinter rl-p's are dvc 4. lowest i can wire it is 2 ohms. i'm going with a single driver.

Refurbed is just as good as new, at least to me they are. However, if the refurbs bother you I would say the ED Nine is your best bet.

Its also a $400 dollar difference. With that $400 you can either buy a new amp or if the one you have is broken it can most likely be fixed for under $100. Its definately something to consider and not for everyone but Kicker amps are built pretty solid, I'd take a chance on it.

Don, i'm looking at the website for that Arc amp and it says 'reverse voltage' in the list of protections. what does that mean?
