Monoblock Wiring Question

I just purchased a Phoenix Gold X1200.1 monoblock amp. There are two sets of speaker outputs - two positives and two negatives. The manual says they're wired in parallel internally. So am I to assume that either set, or both, can be used to hook up my subs? My subs are already wired in parallel and I have ONE speaker wire coming from them and I want to be sure I hook it up to the amp properly. PG tech hasn't returned my call yet, so I was hoping some people here could help.

Thanks,

Tony

Yup, just wire it to either one (assuming the amp says it can handle the ohm load which i assume it does since your not a newb).

the amp is internally bridged, so it doesn't matter which one you use. i think it makes -series parrallel- wiring a ton easier. that's what it's there for.

Thanks. Yep...it goes down to 1 ohm. More than sufficient for my needs. This was my first mono amp. I'm sure I'll be quite happy with it.

Thanks to DJItalianICE too.

yup that 2ch setup setup is for your wiring convenience... my cxl1500d was that way and wiring was cake- didn't have to wire subs to one another and that bs- straight wire from each sub to the amp

i have that same phoenix gold amp im not really to thrilled with it... I have 3 12" jlw3v2 i have the gain almost all the way up they barely even hit. But thats just me. Tell me what you guys think of this amp. Im not really impressed. What i do like is the 1-4 ohms compatibility @ full power. But i kinda wish i spent the extra 200$ and got the jl.

The jl is same thing, less power- the xenons put out ~1400 rms from what I've seen. Both class d w/ regulated power supplies....

Perhaps your output probs is enclosure related...

Well interesting you should ask. I recently purchased an Image Dynamics IDMAX 10. It will be replacing the two Soundstreams in my AP box. I'm gonna see how it sounds in a convential sealed box and if I like it (which I suspect I will) then great. If not, I'll just go from there.

The Xenon is rated at 1200 watts RMS as per the 2006 CEA specs. It should HIT. I doubt the JL would make any difference. You must have a problem somewhere or you've gone deaf already!!

lol i must be deaf then because people say they can hear me coming from the main street before i turn onto mine. But i dont know maybe it is my hearing. In a way i kind of hope that it is my hearing and not the amp... I check the subs frequently to check their ohm load and its getting 4 ohms so its not the subs. My birth sheet on the xenon was like 1217 rms. The jl amp has more tuning abilities compared to the xenon 1200.1 it is so simple compared to the jl. But im sure you possibly right. Maybe im just expecting 3 12" subs to be incredible. They are kinda old. But in anycase i used dual power and ground out puts for maximum power i would recomend you do the same it makes a difference. Just incase you guys didnt know.

Three 12's in the correct box will sound incredible. Three 12's just thrown into any box is a crapshoot.
